Join The Minnie Pearl Cancer Foundation for the 8th Annual Women's Event to be held Friday, September 24th, at the Cool Springs Embassy Suites, located at 820 Crescent Centre Drive in Franklin, Tennessee. Our enthusiastic co-chairs, Ree Guyer Buchanan and Tinti Moffat, are busy planning a fabulous event. A silent auction will kick-off the event at 10:30 a.m., followed by the luncheon and program at 11:30 a.m. This year's program will feature keynote speaker, and breast cancer survivor, Denise Hazen. Sassy and determined, Denise Hazen met Stage 3 cancer with vigor and fortitude. Throughout her treatment, Denise allowed a CNN crew to film her experience for the documentary Taming the Beast. Having faced seventeen rounds of chemotherapy, a double mastectomy and six weeks of daily radiation, Denise sends a clear message to other women: Not only is it possible to endure breast cancer treatment, but women can also emerge on the other side even stronger than before. Now, in Treat Her Like a Princess: How to Help Your Girlfriend with Breast Cancer (Bright Sky Press, April 2009), Denise details the thoughtful and loving ways her friends supported her through her battle.
