Nashville General Hospital at Meharry, home to one of Nashville’s oldest cancer registry, will host its second annual Celebration of Life, Sunday, June 7th from 2:00 -4:00 p.m. in the lobby and back plaza of the hospital.    Over 800 cancer survivors and their families have been invited to attend the event.  To kick-off the celebration, the hospital will announce the addition of a cancer survivorship clinic opening in conjunction with the Vanderbilt Ingram Cancer Center REACH for Survivorship Program.  The program is designed to meet the unique needs of cancer survivors and assist patients in the transition from acute oncology care to primary care. This clinic was made possible by the Meharry/ Vanderbilt Cancer Partnership.  In addition to the announcement, the celebration will feature the Lily Oncology on Canvas, an art exhibition honoring the physical and emotional journeys people face when confronted by a cancer diagnosis.  The art exhibit will be on display at Nashville General Hospital at Meharry from June 7-16.  This free public exhibit, which is touring communities nationwide, will showcase 50 select pieces of art from the 2008 Oncology On Canvas competition.
