Tuesday, January 20, 2009, during an inaugural luncheon, Senator Ted Kennedy suffered a seizure and was transported to a Washington, D.C. area hospital. The Massachusetts Democrat has been diagnosed with and is undergoing treatment for brain cancer. Dr. Reid Thompson, M.D., director of the Vanderbilt Brain Tumor Center and vice-chairman of the Department of Neurological Surgery at Vanderbilt Medical Center, discussed Senator Kennedy’s seizure and the challenges for patients with brain cancer during the online talk show, “Patient Power,” hosted by Andrew Schorr.
