Cavender is the coordinator for the local After Breast Cancer Program at the Rutherford County YMCA in Murfreesboro.
Cavender, also a breast cancer survivor, knows one of the after-effects of breast cancer treatments is not being able to lift your arms after surgery and not knowing what to do about it.
So when women who have gone through the program can reach items on a high shelf, or raise their arm to wave at a friend across the room, that's progress.
