Nashville musician lends voice to cancer survivor tribute song

Nashville musician Melissa DuVall recently offered her voice to a song written as a tribute to a breast cancer survivor in Iowa:

After the lyrics were written, Karen Multer went about hiring a singer. She started in Nashville, seeking someone who sounds like Martina McBride and would not be afraid to give the song both a country and an inspirational flavor.

Enter Melissa DuVall, who has a strong, powerful, ballad-type talent. “I heard maybe 15 seconds of her voice, and I yelled to Steve, ‘That’s the one!’ ” Karen Multer said.

The song was recorded in May, and Karen Multer gave it to Michelle Juehring on her birthday, Sept. 25. It is now available to be downloaded from the Web at giveitup.info.

The lyrics and the tune are meant to be hopeful and inspirational, Karen Multer said. “There are enough sad songs out there. This song is about strength and hope, which is what Michelle is to me.”
