What DO these three TCCCC members have in common??

Three award winners

Other than a love for cats, fitness, and fun, they are all passionate about public health, each having received the Tennessee Public Health Association’s “Health Educator of the Year” award.

 

Trudy Stein-Hart, MS, received the award in 2004. Trudy is currently the program manager for the Tennessee Comprehensive Cancer Control Coalition, and is a familiar face to many in the world of cancer control and prevention. Trudy served as both Health Educator and Nutrition Educator at Montgomery County Health Department WIC Clinic 1994-2005, and was a reporter and editor for 20+ years at several newspapers in the South. Trudy recently received an epidemiology certification through East Tennessee State University’s Tennessee Public Health Workforce Development Consortium, and earned a masters of Science in Public and Community Health with Honors from Austin Peay State University, Clarksville, TN, May 2005. Trudy also has several other degrees and coursework under her belt, including a Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, University of Georgia, Athens, Ga., Magna Cum Laude.

 

Cindy Chafin, M.Ed., CHES, received the award in 2006. Cindy has worked as a consultant to many organizations for the past nine years, and in 2006 incorporated as Community Health Collaboratives, LLC. Cindy currently works with several health-related grants and non-profit agencies including the Tennessee Department of Health’s Comprehensive Cancer Control Program, March of Dimes Tennessee Chapter, and the Middle Tennessee State University’s (MTSU) Center for Health and Human Services. Cindy currently serves as the middle Tennessee Cancer Coalition coordinator. She has a Master’s Degree in Health Promotion and Education from Vanderbilt University, an undergraduate B.B.A. from MTSU, and is CHES certified (Certified Health Education Specialist).

 

Last but certainly not least, Sheila Bates, LMSW, is the winner of the 2008 award. She has a Master’s of Science in Social Work degree from the University of Tennessee and a Bachelor of Arts in Public Relations and Communication from Western Kentucky University. She received her life coaching training from the Coaches Training Institute and Health Action, Inc. and is a certified Circle of Life coach.
