Kid Support at Gilda’s Club Nashville is for children who have family members or friends with cancer and for children who have cancer themselves—either in treatment or post-treatment. Participants (ages 4-11) meet once a week for ten weeks in age appropriate groups.
Kid Support sessions are facilitated by licensed mental health professionals. A variety of expressive art activities, stories, and games are used to help children feel safe to ask questions, understand and express difficult feelings, and share common experiences.
Kid Support promotes discussion about what participants are feeling and experiencing, addresses common cancer-related misconceptions, teaches relaxation techniques and other coping skills to help manage stress, and encourages family communication.
Kid Support and everything else offered at Gilda’s Club Nashville is always free of charge.
