The Student Community Health Coalition (SCHC) Breast Health Initiative provides breast health and breast cancer education and support in thirteen Tennessee counties. The program empowers women to understand risks and early detection options, reducing fears and reliance on cancer myths. It connects underserved women to screening options and provides free clinical breast exams and breast health education on evenings and weekends to broaden options for working women. By using survivors as Breast Health Advocates who take action against breast cancer the program mobilizes the special strengths of these women who are extremely effective in encouraging other women to seek follow-up screening and care following breast cancer or initial mammograms.
