Nashville-based artists and brothers, Eric and Chris Reading, recently finished their first annual Tour4Cure in Nashville on May 17.
From the Tennessean on April 29, 2008:
Multiple myeloma is a cancer that affects human plasma cells. Currently, it’s considered incurable. Almost 20,000 adults were diagnosed with multiple myeloma in 2007, and over 10,000 died from the disease that same year. Actors Peter Boyle and Roy Scheider are among those who’ve recently succumbed to Multiple Myeloma. At 33 percent, it has one of the lowest survival rates of all cancers, yet it remains a sort of “orphan” disease, little known except to those whose lives are directly touched by it.
Nashville recording artists The Readings know the suffering of Multiple Myeloma: their mother, Bonnie, died from the disease in 1995. In response, the band––comprised of fraternal twins Eric and Chris Reading–– have organized Tour 4 Cure, a national concert series to benefit the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation (MMRF) and increase public awareness of the disease.
