Combination mind body practices have gained substantial support from the medical community in improving the quality of life for those living with and surviving breast cancers. In 2000 a cutting edge program was developed by the Cool Springs YMCA to address the needs of breast cancer patients and survivors in Middle Tennessee. The model program was so successful that in 2007 a satellite program is opening in Rutherford County. The only program of its kind in Middle Tennessee the After Breast Cancer (ABC) Program’s focus is on achieving wellness through mind, body and spirit. The ABC Program offers a variety of resources such as Pilates and tai chi classes, physical therapy, nutritional counseling, personal training, group exercise programs, and educational seminars. Wellness services are provided at the Rutherford County YMCA. YMCA Facility Membership is not required for participation. (a $45 fee is requested, however in most cases is waived)
