Meet the CanConnect Team

Jacob Weiss, CanConnect Project Leader
Role: 

Jacob juggles several roles as the CanConnect project leader and developer of the web site. He works closely with the community partners and developing new relationships in the community. Jacob has been developing online communication tools and support for cancer survivors and professionals for over five years. CanConnect is based on the collaborative design efforts from Jacob's PhD research at Vanderbilt University in the Department of Biomedical Informatics.


Role: 

Gloria Cherry serves as the CanConnect reviewer/editor for the Sharing Hope Project entries. She will be reviewing the submissions to CanConnect for appropriate content, adding educational comments and links with relevant information.

 

Gloria has been an oncology nurse and a clown for 27 years. She has turned her passion into a therapeutic tool to benefit her patients, their families, and healthcare professionals. She facilitates workshops for cancer patients and their caregivers. She is a research nurse specialist in the Cancer Information Program for the Vanderbilt Ingram Cancer Center.


Role: 

Franklin has worked as an undergraduate research assistant throughout the design of the online community. His roles have included facilitating meetings with research groups and researching possible features. He will be writing and editing content for CanConnect.

Franklin is a recent Vanderbilt University graduate currently pursuing his masters in Communication at New York University.


Role: 

The CanConnect team works closely with a group of cancer survivors and caregivers who advise on the design and content of the site.
